New Human Stem Cell Lines Created

11 new human stem cell lines have been created according to an announcment in Science magazine from the South Korea laboratory of Woo Suk Hwang, who shocked the world 12 Mar 2004 with the first human cloning. The process the lab uses is Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer (SCNT). Last year their efficiency was 1 success in 200 tries, but now it is up to more than 1 in 20. Hwang cautions that his team remains years away from transplanting the cells into people.
