Find a USA public bank

Public cord blood banks accept cord blood donations for free. If the donation passes the requirements of size and quality for transplant use, it is saved and listed on a registry that can be searched by patients. The goal is for your donation to Be The Match that saves a life.

There are two ways to donate your baby's cord blood to a public bank:
  1. Find a donation location: A limited number of large birthing hospitals in the USA accept donations.
  2. Send your baby's cord blood to a mail-in donation program.

This list is presented as a service to members of the cord blood industry; parents who seek to donate cord blood are advised to go back to the page Find a donation location.

For the purposes of this list, the word "bank" is interpreted to mean an organization that owns a lab, and does not include collection programs that work in partnership with an independent lab. This list of currently operating banks was last researched by Dr. Verter in Dec. 2011. At present the link under each bank points to one of their collection hospitals... later this will be changed to a pure database that displays as a map.
